08/06/07 OpenAirlines launches the Open Source Initiative for the airline industry with community site openairlines.org
OpenAirlines.org is the community site for an open-source initiative in the airline industry.
Its aims at gathering industry expert volunteers (airliners, vendors, consultants and other enthousiastic people) around open royalty-free standards, and open-source commodity components.
The purpose of this initiative is to solve the integration nightmare by providing open solutions that can bridge the gap between airlines and vendors, and help airlines keep their information system organized. We believe that this initiative shall ease the modernization of legacy systems and the adoption of modern software (vendor-based, in-house or open-source) in the industry.
OAX - Open Airlines eXchanges aims at providing a common vocabulary and modeling of the airline business entities, starting with the Crew domain. It consists in Creative Commons licensed documents providing:
-
UML model and associated documentation
- XML schema for airline data exchanges
- WSDL description of common service
SOAX - Software for Open Airlines eXchanges aims at providing commodity open-source components to produce and handle OAX compliant datafiles and services. It consists in LGPL licensed java classes.
- OAX POJOs
- OAX XML and IATA parser
- OAX Web Services proxies
